Women's Ministry
Welcome to FBC Denison Women’s Ministry!
We invite you to come be a part of God’s ministry with us. There is something for all ages, all interests, and all talents. It would be our pleasure to help you find a place (or two or three) to belong. I encourage you to learn the basics
of our ministry here at FBC, keeping in mind that while some of our ongoing ministries are listed here, we are always searching, changing, and going where God leads.
If you have questions about any of this information or would just
like to know someone who can help you find your place of ministry, feel free to contact me at womensministry@gsuite.fbcdenison.org.
Wishing you God’s richest blessings,
Carolyn Ramsey
FBC Denison Women’s Ministry Leader
Who are we?
As a firmly established branch of the FBC life-giving forest of believers, we seek to become influential women in our local body and community. We do this within our five (5) principles of worship, ministry, evangelism, fellowship, and discipleship.
What are we about?
We are organized using these five (5) principles: Worship, Ministry, Evangelism, Fellowship, and Discipleship. We use God’s Word in the Great Commission (Matthew 28:19-20) and the Greatest Commandment (Deuteronomy 6:5) as the guideline for these principles.
Worship
Love the Lord your God with all your heart. When we express our love to God, we’re worshipping.
Ministry
Love your neighbor as yourself. The church exists to minister to people both within and outside the local church body. Ministry is demonstrating God’s love to others by meeting their needs and healing their hurts in the name of Jesus.
Evangelism
Go and make disciples. The church exists to communicate God’s Word. We are ambassadors for Christ, and our commission is to evangelize the world. Growth is not optional; it is commanded by Jesus. God wants people saved.
How do we accomplish this?
Using the principles of our ministry we include worship, small groups, Bible reading and service as foundational roots in all we do. We encourage the reading of God’s Word daily, being a contributing member of a small group (BFG) and serving within our local body as well as the community. Our ministries include areas where you can be ministered to or minister to others. We seek to share the gospel through personal relationships. Our fellowship is fun and inclusive. Discipleship is included as we read and study God’s Word, as we mentor or are mentored in growing relationships. We live in repentance and freedom while reaching out and serving others.
“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens the countenance of her friend.” Proverbs 27:17
FBC Women’s Ministry wants to be part of your spiritual journey and help you achieve the goals of that journey. Investing more of you into being more like Jesus to those in your world must become a way of life. That includes the other women in our church. If we aren’t intentional in doing whatever it takes to embrace each other we probably won’t do it out in the world either. It’s impossible to know every woman of this church in a close relationship but it’s not impossible to know a few. We want to help you any way we can by providing opportunities to participate in and step out into the ministry you’re being called to for the Kingdom’s sake.
We must escape the bondage of our own self-interest and intentional choose to become like Jesus. Life at its highest level is not lived for self alone but for others. This is why the Great Command, which calls us to love God with all our being, also calls us to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. The beginning of iron sharpening iron is denying yourself and your own self interests. In the concept of the church it includes learning who God is by reading and studying His Word, teaching others using what God has taught you in your own life experiences, mentoring others in ways to follow God wholeheartedly with their minds and hearts, and serving others. All of this helps advance the Kingdom for God’s honor and glory and not our own. We have to embrace the challenges of Christianity and choose to grow. We can’t really begin to understand the concept of “iron sharpening iron” without faithfully committing to what Jesus’s calls us to – Make disciples. Making disciples requires iron sharpening iron. As a believer in Christ, this is part of our assignment. Becoming a disciple of Christ means following Him and showing others how to follow Him. Then they do the same. It’s like a domino effect.
We commit to the following as growing, maturing women of God.
Faithfully attend BFG and worship
Faithfully read and study God’s Word
Faithfully give from God’s blessings
Faithfully serve within our calling
