Special Needs Ministry

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions on Denison group houses, the special needs class is not currently meeting. Please check back for updates or call the church office for more information.

The purpose of this ministry is to reach adults with mental and physical challenges to understand the love of God through Jesus Christ and his church. We want our special needs members to know they are welcomed and loved as brothers and sisters in Christ and also to contribute to, and to be accepted in, the Denison community.

Special Needs Bible Fellowship Group: Sundays @ 9:45 am

The Special Needs “BFG” meets in their classroom at the end of the hallway that goes past the church office, past the stairs to the left. We have a bus that picks up group members and returns them to their homes after worship service. We conduct this class as “family”—praying, laughing, and caring about one another. The class includes Bible study, fun crafts, and special projects. Our group has a great love for Jesus!

About Our Leaders

Lorrie Daugherty has been involved with the Special Needs ministry for since 2004. The Lord led her to this ministry as she was looking for an adult Sunday school class. One of the volunteers asked her to help, and she found God’s calling for her in this ministry. Lorrie’s heart is for the people in her class to find their place in the church and community.

Mary Burns has had a passion for more than 30 years for working with those considered “special needs,” receiving a joy from this work that cannot be measured. She joined Lorrie several years ago as the co-leader of this ministry.

If you have questions about this ministry, please contact the church office.

If you would like to become involved in this ministry, please speak to Lorrie or Mary.
